The Zoom Midsize Brush Hog is a 4.5 to 5-inch soft plastic creature bait designed for bass fishing in freshwater, featuring a slender body with high-action appendages and salt impregnation. This size is intended to offer the perfect in-between option when the Baby Brush Hog is too small and the standard version is too large.

Key Features and Usage:
  • Design and Action: The bait is a unique crawfish/lizard/worm hybrid with multiple appendages (long tails, wings, and arms) that move a tremendous amount of water and create an enticing action. This design helps slow the fall rate and produce vibration.
  • Material: It is made with soft, durable, salt-impregnated plastic, which encourages fish to hold on longer after the bite, leading to better hook sets.
  • Versatility: The bait is highly versatile and can be rigged in several ways, including flipping, pitching, swimming, or using it on a magnum shakey head, a Carolina-rig, or as a jig trailer.
  • Target Species: It is designed primarily for largemouth and smallmouth bass in freshwater environments.
All sizes feature a soft, salty plastic that encourages bass to hold on longer, giving anglers more time to set the hook.

Effective Rigging Techniques:

The design of the Zoom Brush Hog makes it highly versatile and effective with several rigging methods.
  • Texas Rig: This is arguably the most popular method for fishing the Brush Hog, especially when flipping into heavy cover like grass beds, docks, or lay-down trees, as it is largely weedless. A slip sinker is typically used, with weight varied depending on the depth.
  • Carolina Rig: The bait's slow fall rate makes it an excellent choice for a Carolina rig, allowing it to stay in the strike zone and float above vegetation when targeting deeper, offshore structures.
  • Jig Trailer: The Brush Hog can be used as a trailer on the back of a football jig or magnum shaky head jig for a bulkier presentation.
  • Weightless: When rigged weightless on a Texas rig, the tails create a lot of surface disturbance, making it effective for shallow water situations.
