The Berkley PowerBait Floating Trout Worm is a 3-inch soft plastic bait that replicates the appearance and action of small worms to attract trout and other fish species. Its floating design keeps the bait suspended in the strike zone, off the bottom, where it is easily noticed by foraging trout.

Features
  • PowerBait formula: The worms are infused with Berkley's exclusive PowerBait scent and flavor. This encourages fish to hold on to the bait longer, giving anglers more time to set the hook. Some variants also contain garlic scent.
  • Lifelike action: A soft, segmented body provides a lively, undulating movement that mimics a natural worm.
  • Versatile use: While highly effective for trout, the bait is also known to catch other species, including crappie, bluegill, and bass.
  • Durable: The soft plastics are more durable than live bait, allowing you to catch multiple fish on a single worm.

Rigging Methods

Different rigging techniques can be used to fish the PowerBait Floating Trout Worm
effectively:
  • Carolina Rig: This setup is effective for fishing off the bottom. A small bullet weight, a bead, and a swivel are threaded on the main line. A leader line is tied to the swivel, and the worm is tied to the end of the leader line.
  • Split-Shot Rig: With this simple setup, a small weight is attached to the line about 12 to 18 inches above the hook. This allows the worm to drift naturally with the current.
  • Wacky Rig: This method involves hooking the worm through its middle, which causes the ends to dangle and wiggle freely in the water. It works well for both drifting and jigging.
  • Jig Head: Rigging the worm on a small jig head allows for casting and reeling to attract fish.
